Tukituki River

One of Hawke’s Bays’ top trout fishing locations with good numbers of rainbow trout and brown trout present. The river has ample easy access which can be found by viewing the access pamphlet at the link below. There is a good chance of catching trout at all of these access points and most are accessible with 2WD. The nearby townships of Napier, Hastings and Waipukurau have plenty of accommodation options and facilities to choose from.

Mohaka River

The Mohaka is a world renowned for brown troutand rainbow trout fishing. The river holds good numbers of rainbow trout and brown trout. It is found 50mins north of Napier on SH5. There is free camping available at a number of spots off Waitara Rd suitable for tents and campers, accommodation is also available at Mountain Valley Adventure Lodge found at the end of McVicar Road. Lake Tutira

Annually stocked with trout, fishingd is best over winter.Lake Tutira is found 45 minutes north of Napier on SH2. . It has great access at the southern end (closest to Napier) for campers, with toilets available. The lake has great scenery, excellent angling and a number of scenic walking tracks.
